May TNT: Bayocean, Atlantis of Oregon
May 18 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
| FreeLike Plato’s fictional island kingdom, most of Bayocean sank below the sea decades ago. The rest lies buried beneath the shore pine, salal, beach grass, and Scotch broom covering what remains of the four-mile-long spit that protects Tillamook Bay from the Pacific Ocean.
In Bayocean: Atlantis of Oregon, author Jerry Sutherland chronicles the half-century this Oregon resort town existed before it was destroyed by the sea. He will use PowerPoint to share some of the story pictorially during this presentation.
The Clatsop County Historical Society’s TNT lecture series is a free event at Fort George Brewery on the third Thursday of each month. Doors open at 6:00 pm, with lectures beginning at 7:00 pm. Seasonal beers on tap, food, and other beverages are available for purchase. Minors are welcome with an accompanying adult.
