Signs of the Times explores how local businesses and the City of Astoria have grown and changed over time. The exhibit features our collection of historic, hand-painted signs and is augmented by our extensive photograph collection. Signs of the Times depicts Astoria as it was at various points over the past 125 years.
The Model City uses scale models to examine how the region has been both planned and promoted over the years. This exhibit includes topographic maps and models created by local architect Ebba Wicks Brown for her 1946 Master’s thesis. Here, Wicks Brown proposed the future development of both Astoria and nearby Warrenton as she imagined it in the years 1990 and 2000, respectively. Her work will appear alongside similar scale models offering differing visions of the area.
